Jovita T. Nsoh, Ph.D.

I work at the intersection of identity, AI security, and critical infrastructure.

For more than 26 years, I have designed, secured, and operated large-scale systems across industry, government, and academia—ranging from hyperscale cloud and data centers to energy systems, autonomous platforms, and public-sector infrastructure. Across all of these environments, one lesson has been consistent: identity is the control plane of security.

My work focuses on building identity-first, Zero Trust architectures and AI-driven defense systems that function under real operational constraints. I am particularly interested in environments where cyber and physical systems converge—energy, transportation, industrial control systems, and intelligent supply chains—because these systems cannot fail safely in the abstract. They must work in practice.

My goal is not theoretical security for its own sake, but deployable architectures—systems that engineers, operators, and policymakers can actually use.

Background

I was trained in the German Fachhochschule system and studied applied informatics at Reutlingen University, a state-run university of applied sciences with a strong engineering and business focus. That model—where academia works hand-in-hand with industry and research is validated through implementation—continues to shape how I conduct research, teach students, and design security systems today.

I hold a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, along with graduate training in business, applied informatics, and law. My professional career has included senior leadership roles at organizations where I worked on high-impact security, compliance, and transformation initiatives across regulated and mission-critical environments.

Teaching

Teaching is a core part of my work. I believe people learn best by building, breaking, and fixing real systems. In my courses and mentoring, I emphasize hands-on labs, adversarial thinking, and practical skills that translate directly to industry, research, and public service.

I have seen firsthand how a growth mindset—combined with the right technical grounding—allows students to move from "I can't" to "I built this."

Institution Building & Leadership

Beyond research and teaching, I am involved in institution building and leadership development. I am particularly committed to strengthening cybersecurity capacity and leadership across Africa and the Global South.
